So I was peer editing some essays today and I kept getting distracted by the letter forms of Times New Roman. Particularly the “t”. The things typography has done to me, now whenever I read a book it’s just me sitting and wondering, “I wonder what font that this? It’s not Baskerville ─ it might be Garamond. Oh lordy it is not Times New Roman; that lowercase “a” screams Garamond.” This was happening as I was reading Middlesex and my lord did it bother me. The art world meets the English world ─ a horrible affair.
